Geologic Possibilities
These conditions are presented by geologic features that can be presumed to occur generically within a single physiographic province. With experience, the practitioners comes to recognize the “possibility” of encountering such features as important elements of site characterization. “Geologic Possibilities” can become cause of “changed conditions” whereby construction contractor costs are escalated; other situations can cause operational and maintenance concerns through failed ground of various sorts; and, for environmental remediation such conditions often represent pathways for contaminant transport.
