Regionally Important Geologic Materials
Regionally-Important Geologic Materials (RIGMs)
Consistent with the philosophy that Regional Physiography exercises a dominant control over local engineering geologic conditions, so does the presence of expectable types of geologic materials common to that Region. RIGMs may be named stratigraphic geologic units or can be given engineering geologic names of convenience if not yet formally adopted as stratigraphic nomenclature. Some RIGMs may not be appropriate to being identified with formal geologic stratigraphic units.
