It is a long-proven fact that regional practice in the Applied Earth Sciences, is strongly impacted by the overall nature of geologic conditions and of Regionally-Important Geologic Materials (RIGMs). As with much of the database of the Applied Earth Sciences, there are essential elements of Region-Specific Topics that should be available for individuals taking assignments in worldwide locations other than their usual region of practice, either as visiting consultants or as emigres.
