Welcome
… to the Geoscience Library of Applied Technology.

As our library grows, we will always be exploring new and interesting ways to allow our patrons to find the information they seek.  If you see something you like, or don’t like, please feel free to contact us with your suggestions.

Please note that you are welcome to wander freely among the “stacks” in our library; however when you find the document you have been looking for, you will be asked to register and agree to our Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy.  At that point, you will be the proud owner of a “GLAT Library Card.”  Once registered, you will be able to download that document and any of the many other items in our various collections.  We, of course, will respect your privacy.  Your name and email address will never be shared with anyone.

Dedication:
This Geoscience Library of Applied Technology is dedicated to the many men and women who have watched over the years, perhaps with some trepidation, as a wealth of practical knowledge pertaining to the core workings of this noble profession was lost or threatened with the passing of individual practitioners, their personal journals, articles, photos and field notes.  These are often the foundational “Knowledge Base” materials of our trade that may not have qualified as candidates for inclusion in any of our formal journal publications, and yet to suffer their loss would be a historical travesty.  These informal, “from the trenches” teachings of our peers will always serve to compliment the knowledge gained via formal research and our traditional educational systems and to remind us that we all can rise higher when we stand upon the broad shoulders of those who have trod these paths before us.

Site Features & Suggestions:
–  A Wide Variety of Professional Topics:
Our catalog of Content Area categories can always be found in the left margin of any page you may happen to be viewing.
If you don’t see what you need,
please let us know.

–  Full Search Capabilities:
Our Keyword Search form is at the top of the right margin.  Enter one or more key words that you think might have been used by the author of the paper you are seeking.  Your search results should appear in the center of this page.  Do NOT hit the “Enter” key.  The search process will begin after you have typed at least 3 characters and will constantly  update as you refine your choice of search term.  Keep in mind that as our library grows (over 4,000 documents at the moment), it will take longer for your search results to appear.  Please be patient.
The fewer terms you use, the faster you will see your results.

You may also use the “+” and “” to help you narrow your results list.  For instance, if the search query is “cats -dogs -birds” only documents that contain the term “cats” and without both the terms “dogs” and “birds” will be included in your search results list.

–  Active Discussions:
Many of our Content Area pages will have the ability to accept comments and suggestions from our patrons.  Please feel free to speak up.  Perhaps offer encouragement to one of our curators on a job well done.  Professionally written opinions about our many topics or suggestions for additional content in topic areas that are just getting started are always welcome.  This is your library.  Help us to develop it into a full-featured resource that you will revisit on a regular basis.

–  Moving About Within the Library:
The yellow Geoscience Library banner at the top of every page is an active link that will always return you here (Library Home Page) from anywhere within the library.  The usual Forward and Backward buttons on your browser should also function normally within our Library.

–
Get Involved:
You are always encouraged to become an active participant in the design and growth of this professional library.  Don’t just be a reader… become a contributor.  Study our Submit An Item page (left margin) for ideas.  But why stop with simply submitting something?  Become part of our Editorial Staff.  Become a topic area Curator.  If your skills include knowing how to run a word processor and upload files you can be one of us!  Fame and fortune will surely follow close behind once your name is featured at the top of one of our Geoscience Library of Applied Technology collection pages!

–  Read our “Frequently Asked Questions” Page:
Locate the Library FAQ link at the bottom of our Content Areas list in the left margin.  If you have a question that isn’t listed, please let us know what to add.

Our Mission Statement:
